This project might help solve a little problem I have: when crayons are in boxes, I have a deep and pervasive need to organize them chromatically, and then to never let my children touch them. This is largely counterproductive if one wants one’s children to enjoy creativity.
However, having crayons grouped by color family, and readily accessible right out in the room space, could well curb my little problem. I get the visual color satisfaction and organization, my kids don’t get Mom supervising the return of every single crayon, every single time.
On second thought, I’m afraid Lefty will take advantage of easy crayon access, and decorate the walls a bit too liberally. I’ll stick with chalk for now… but I can see doing this same thing with taller cans, as a colored pencil holder for Eldest. She doesn’t draw on walls unless it’s a paid mural commission, lovely thing.
