Another very nice hot sandwich option, with the flavors of Thanksgiving! Do this one with or without the Cranberry Gunge.
- Sourdough bread
- Sliced turkey
- Cheddar cheese (medium or sharp)
- Mayo or mustard if you like it (I like just a bit of mustard with this, myself)
- Cranberry Gunge
- Lettuce (Romaine or Bibb) or spinach if you like it.
Spread the outsides of the sourdough slices with a bit of real butter, and the insides with a smear of mayo or mustard if you like it. Lay on the turkey and cheese, with Cranberry Gunge between the two. Grilled until the bread is toasted nicely, and the cheese is melted. Just before serving, open up the sandwich and add a bit of raw spinach or lettuce, or serve the sandwich with a salad on the side.
This particular hot sandwich goes together quite quickly, and is basically the best of Thanksgiving leftovers, without having to de-flesh a turkey carcass.
And, I know it’s Friday. But, this is what we had for dinner Tuesday. I rebel against deadlines on occasion.
