I found this really nifty thing on Apartment Therapy:
My mom is the genealogy maven in our family. I simply add some historical context to the family’s many moves now and then. (Seven sons? Moving to Minnesota in 1860? Possibly not wanting to be involved with the coming war, eh? Protestant? Moving to the Netherlands in the late 1600s? Can we say “don’t care to be killed by Catholics?”)
I love neat ways to display family information, though. Fan charts in calligraphy or embroidered, quilts, photo trees, wall murals, album pages… they’re all nifty ways to connect to the names, and through the names, to the stories!
Those are really cute, but what do you use when your family tree looks like a topiary?
Heh… the dangers of rural mountain life. 🙂 Some might argue that a basic stick would be fine. Just inscribe it with names all in a row.
